Where Music Becomes Memory

For over two decades, I've worked behind the scenes of weddings, corporate functions, cultural celebrations, and nightlife events shaping the energy of a room through music selection, timing, and awareness of the crowd.

I'm Jay, Founder of DJ KingJewelz Entertainment. My focus is simple: selecting the right music, at the right moment, for the right audience.

From Vinyl to Vision

My relationship with music started early.

My grandmother’s vinyl collection heavy with soul from the 60s through the 80s; introduced me to music as something layered and intentional.

Records weren’t background noise; they told stories.

My mother expanded that foundation. Through her travels, she brought home music from different parts of the world. I didn’t always understand the language, but the feeling translated immediately. Those records shaped how I listen and how I mix.

Growing up in the Caribbean before moving to North America gave me a broader perspective on how music functions in real spaces. Rhythm crosses generations. A familiar song can pull people together instantly. The right track, played at the right time, becomes a shared memory.

Experience That Translates

I’ve DJed weddings, corporate and school events, private celebrations, lounges, and nightclubs throughout Southwestern Ontario. Each environment demands a different skill set: structure, timing, adaptability, and control.

Weddings, in particular, require more than good music. They require planning, coordination, and awareness of the full timeline. I work closely with couples and, when needed, with planners and vendors to ensure transitions are smooth and the flow of the evening feels effortless.

I’ve also been trusted to score the full event soundtrack for a Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) event, a role that required detailed planning, coordination, and precise execution across the entire event timeline.

Community & Perspective

Outside of DJing, I work as a settlement and youth worker, supporting newcomer families and community programs. I also volunteer with local organizations, including a women’s centre.

That experience influences how I approach events. I’m mindful of inclusion, comfort, and creating spaces where people feel welcome. Whether it’s a formal reception or a packed dance floor, those details matter.

What You Can Expect

When you book DJ KingJewelz, you can expect a focused, professional experience from start to finish.

I arrive prepared with professional-grade equipment and backup systems in place. Throughout the event, I adjust in real time managing energy, respecting the timeline, and keeping the atmosphere exactly where it needs to be.

You won’t need to manage the music or worry about transitions. That’s handled.

Approach & Style

I don’t treat genres as fixed lanes. Hip-Hop moves naturally into Soca. R&B blends with Reggae. Soul transitions into Afrobeats. Country and Top 40 have their place when the room calls for it.

This approach isn’t about showing range; it’s about reading the room. Every event has a different balance of people, expectations, and energy. My role is to understand that balance and guide it naturally, without forcing the moment.

Planning & Collaboration

From our first conversation to your final song, I handle the music planning so you don’t have to think about it on the day of your event.

We’ll go over your vision, key moments, must-play songs, and do-not-play requests. Planning is clear, proactive, and tailored to your needs whether that means honouring cultural traditions, blending multiple music styles, or keeping things simple and elegant.

Every detail is coordinated so you can enjoy your event without worrying about what comes next.

Recognition & Professional Standards

In 2025, I was named a Male of the Year finalist for the Black Excellence Award, recognizing both professional work and community impact.

I’ve performed at venues such as Forte Restaurant and Yardie Vibez Lounge, along with numerous weddings, school board functions, corporate events, and private celebrations throughout the region. Many clients return year after year a level of trust I value above everything else.

Let’s Create a Strong Experience

I approach each event with a focus on timing, flow, and understanding the people in the room. My responsibility is to ensure the music supports the event, the timeline, and the experience of your guests.

Based in Chatham, serving Windsor, London, Sarnia, and all of Southwestern Ontario.

If you’re planning an event and want the music handled properly, I’d be glad to connect.
